Op-ed in the Guardian: UK should pay poor countries for poaching health workers

A recent article in The Guardian discusses the idea that the UK should pay compensation to countries for the health workers that migrate to work in the NHS.  The current Ebola outbreak, and the harmful effect that brain drain has had on already weak health systems, is particularly highlighted.  The article also touches on other codes of conduct:

The 2010 WHO code of practice on the international recruitment of health personnel is an important attempt to deal with the brain drain that leaves health systems vulnerable, but one key tool is missing from the document: financial compensation for source countries.
