Devex article on health workforce efforts, including the Code of Conduct – January 16, 2009

Jacqueline Koch recently posted an article on Devex about the global health workforce shortage and needed efforts to ensure access to health care and achievement of the Millenium Development Goals.

“Last May, 25 organizations signed onto the ‘NGO Code of Conduct for Health Systems Strengthening.’ Drafted by a number of leading service and advocacy organizations, such as Physicians for Human Rights, Oxfam U.K. and the Health Alliance International, the code outlines responsible hiring practices of national health staff that minimize bureaucratic burdens on health ministries.”

The article, entitled “A holistic solution for the global health workforce shortage,” is available online.
